Olesya and Max's destination wedding - South Africa, Cape Town
March 5, 2018
I was beyond excited when I was asked to photograph the wedding of Olesya and Max in Cape Town. What more could one lucky wedding photographer ask for?! The most beautiful city, amazing guests, fun and bubbly bride, and a groom - wait for it - wearing his kilt attire for the wedding! Did I mention that the venue they picked is a retired winery?
The wedding day was as perfect as it gets - the girls were getting ready at the bridal room in the estate, wearing the cutest robes (the bride carefully selected them), enjoying some champagne and giggling of excitement. The bride was a bit nervous, as expected, but oh so excited!
Her makeup style was a tribute to famous Grace Kelly, and she looked stunning!
Her mother couldn't hold back tears when she saw her daughter all ready and about to get married to the man of her dreams.
I was lucky to have plenty of time to capture all the details, the rings (her engagement ring was designed by the groom himself from some family jewelry), the shoes and the wedding dress.
Finally, everyone is ready to go, the guests are seated, and the groom is waiting down the aisle. The harpist is playing the tune, while four bridesmaids are making their way to the arch, beautifully decorated with white fresh flowers.
Finally, it is time for the bride to make her big entrance. Everybody is standing up for Olesya. Her father is walking her down the aisle to be married, and her mother can't hold tears back again. What a beautiful moment to remember!
Max is stunned by his beautiful bride, all jittery and excited. The couple goes through their vows to each other, exchanging the looks and the rings, and finally it is time for the first kiss!
No more bride and groom, there is a husband and wife now, a family is born. Even though I am blessed to witness and capture these moments more often than many, it still gives me goose bumps. Two people are making lifelong commitment to each other, and it is so beautiful.
The weather couldn’t be better, nice and warm, the light is beautiful and I am able to capture many great pictures of the bride and groom, their bridal party and all the guests.
The celebration continues with the reception, amazing dinner is served, followed by toasts, the cake, the first dance (and they surprised everyone with it, let me tell you!) and the bouquet throw. The evening continues with a lot of dancing and everyone is having fun, celebration this very special occasion!
In Olesya`s own words: “I am not that much into photos person, and all my friends will confirm it. But when we started to plan the wedding, of course I realized it's inevitable that I would be a bride and that 100 pair of eyes will be staring at me, plus an extra one of the camera. I knew I would need a photographer whom I will not be just a happy bride with, but a very confident and if you want it, a stunning bride with. The choice of the photographer was crucial for me, and let me tell you Julie did a fantastic job!!! With Julie's attention to detail, some extra care and such a personal attitude, I was feeling I am a big Hollywood star in my own movie. The moments, emotions, faces and smiles she carefully and delicately captured with the right light, background, scenery totally took my heart when I saw the pictures. Now, I am waiting for the next milestones in our family to happen to book Julie for a photo shoot. One of my dreams came true. I was a stunning bride. I hope I will be lucky to become a happy expecting mother so comfortably posing to Julie's camera. Just yesterday I got a message from one of bridesmaids who briefly texted: "Saw the pictures. Julie is a big talent."
